Classes for children and adult are held the Bert Ferguson Community Center, 8457 Trinity Road, Cordova, TN 38018. Anyone interested should contact via email.
Polish lessons are held under the patronage of the Nicolaus Copernicus School of Polish Language and Culture in Memphis. Classes begin in September after Labor Day and end in May. In order to spread Polish culture and tradition, during the school year, we celebrate holidays that highlight both the national character and religion. These cultural celebrations and activities in school provide opportunities for students to engage with traditional customs, language, and symbolism. Through participating in Christmas Eve performance, students can enhance their vocabulary by learning occasional poems and songs. Easter egg decorating allows students to familiarize themselves with symbolic foods and rituals associated with the holiday. Additionally, writing wishes in Polish on Grandma and Grandpa’s Day, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and Valentine’s Day not only encourages students to practice their language skills but also fosters a sense of cultural pride and connection.
Students learn the achievements of great, famous Poles in the classroom and the interesting tales about Polish kings. They also learn about Poland, situated in the heart of Europe, with the Baltic coast, the Vistula River, lakes, forests, mountains, Warsaw, Krakow and other old beautiful spots. By learning about the achievements of great and famous Poles, students can develop a sense of national pride. Additionally, learning about the geography of Poland allows students to deepen their knowledge and understanding of their country’s natural beauty and historical landmarks.
These classes aim to make learning Polish enjoyable and worthwhile, with energetic and interesting lessons offered by enthusiastic teacher.
